I'm going to agree with grande351. The Donahue photos are superb. Like the silver pint photos, B&W really brings out the shape & texture, doesn't it? Just gorgeous--I'd seen a few of those photos before, elsewhere, but to see more of the series is just a genuine treat, Ms D (and thanks also to M. Donahue). I think M. Donahue has said something to the effect that good photos can be made, but great photos just happen (a sentiment shared with the late, great Edward Weston), and that is true. My favourite is the one where you're laughing, about midway down on the right--gotta love the spontaneity & the look of just simple fun on your face! Big, huge bravo, Ms D!

Since its been a few days sine I was last by (sorry), I thought I'd toss a little genealogy trivia at you: Tom Hanks is a 7th cousin, once removed of George Clooney. George's mother had Hanks ancestors, too. Likewise, Abe Lincoln's mother was Nancy Hanks, but because she was illegitimate & raised by Hanks family members, its not clear who actually were her parents. Her father could be one of two Hanks men, but then again, her mother may have been the Hanks in the equation. Hope you have a good day, hope the belly & back are feeling better, and hope you have a few fewer things to worry about. Take it easy, Ms D., and have a great day!

BTW, how do you feel about cryptozoology? A couple years ago I was telling a relative who was possibly heading up to the Pac NW and was worried about bigfoot that there was nothing to be worried about. I mean, think about it: large, hairy, smelly, howls a lot, hugs trees--obviously bigfoot is the last wild herd of hippies! Cruel, I know, but then again the only thing that sets me apart from them is my shoe size is 10D (not big), and I shower/bathe everyday. Beyond that, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference! (Oh, how I love humour at my own expense!). But, yeah, unless your name's Grover Krantz or Jeff Meldrum and are backed by a university, or unless you're a couple plumbers who get a nice deal with the SciFi Channel there's no money in ghost hunting or bigfoot watching.

Curse you, Dr. Peter Venckman! You got a whole generation and more of us wanting to be ghostbusters! You know, Venckman looks kinda like that groundskeeper with a serious problem with gophers (or was it golfers?). And that guy looks a lot like this camp counselor named Tripper. And that guy looked a bit like this lounge singer from when I was a kid who used to sing about Star Wars ...wonder if they're related? Come to think of it, Venckman looks a bit like Steve Zisou ...wierd. (). I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the silver paint series. You got what I meant (phew!). I love that stripped down simple look, whether you're doing something that enhances the texture or shape of whatever, or whomever, you're photographing, whether you're shooting in B&W, or if you're doing something very basic like nude outdoors or with just a homey feel to it. Anyway, really gorgeous images, Danielle, but then again an artist is only as good as the inspiration before her or him!

I completely understand what you are trying to say. The paint really does make the definition of the skin stand out. When you would press against your skin it would leave amazing marks. You know what's funny? I used to want to be a paranormal researcher. I though that was the coolest job in the world for awhile until I found out you don't make any money doing it.

Oh yeah, did you see the "That One '08" website yet? Kinda like it--might even get a t-shirt. And as far as early voting, I checked and AZ began early voting on 10/2, so check to see where you can vote early if you want to get it done. Personally, I can hardly wait. I checked for NV and we get started on 10/18. I can just walk a couple blocks to do it this time, so I think I'll do just that. Just an FYI bit, too.

Wow, for starters, Martycnmcfly put it really nice below. The good kind of wicked! (Wish I'd thought if it.) Just heard on the radio (KUNR) that we could be getting snow here within the next 48 hours. It is cold. We had some snow on Mt. Rose & Slide Mtn a week or so back, most of which burned off PDQ, but they say it could snow down here in the Truckee & South Meadows. Just a "what's the weather like ..." note before the world calls me back. Hasta luego--have a great day!

Its early, I still haven't had my tea, am in a blah mood, and since I'm waiting for my bud to get here, I thought I'd try and get out of my fug-ugly mood with some trivia for ya. Right, so with a Halloween theme going from last night, Jason Hawes, Ghost Hunter, is a 7th cousin 5 times removed of Freelan Oscar Stanley, founder of the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park CO (said to be one of the most haunted places going--gorgeous place, too). J is also a 6th cousin 6x removed of Sarah Winchester (need Pardee) builder of the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose CA, another of those haunted houses. Now, since we've heard so much of "mavericks" lately, I figured a Maverick theme would be nice. The real maverick was Samuel Augustus Maverick, a TX cattleman who refused to brand his cattle (maverick = unbranded, independent). Sam A. was a 4th cousin 3 times removed of another Samuel Maverick, this latter one a victim of the "Boston Massacre". Sam A. was also a 7th cousin 1x removed of John Capen "Grizzly" Adams. Sam A. was also a 5th cousin 2x removed of Roger Baldwin, co-founder of the ACLU (which would probably make Sam's descendants happy, since many are card-carrying members of the ACLU). And finally Sam A. was a 6th cousin 4x removed of Jim Morrison, through Jim's grandpa, Dalton Frank Clarke, an attorney & labour organizer. So there you have the Real Maverick with some other folks who could be called "maverick." Hope you have a great day, Ms D!
