Pssst, BTW, Rob's already posted Monica's update. I've been downloading/viewing the video & photos (the standard WMV scenes come up like the older updates, so you can download without having your WMV player come up--so far, so wickedly good watching them on PowerDVD! And the still images, mwah! Magnifique!

As do I my friend - especially as it seems that we have the same interests in sci-fi and the lovely ladies of FTV I do like how we often build on each others posts - it makes for an interesting and fun board. And without a doubt any guy who admires ladies in a fine pair of spectacles (especially Leslie and Danielle) is certainly an A#1 guy in LeoRex's book!!

I never even bothered to see Nemesis until it was on TV a few weeks back. I agree, the final battle scene was fantastic, but the plot seemed more than a little thin to me (thinner than some of the concert tees I got back in the late 80s!). Was that John Cho you meant playing Sulu? I think that was the guy from Harold & Kumar. I'd heard about Nimoy having some part, and that Shatner was disappointed that they couldn't figure out a way for him to reprise his role (tricky after Generations). I do wish they could have found a way for both to make an appearance. Somewhere I saw something about Takei making an appearance, but I'm not sure if that was rumor or what. The last time I checked on anything was when I went to see when in Dec it was going to be released and found out they'd pushed it back to next summer. Now that's a bummer, but good business sense. Oh, and I love Shawn, too, as well as Hot Fuzz! Simon is a laugh-riot! Did you see him int hat episode of Dr. Who from Chris Eccleston's season? About Andromeda, that was the series with Kevin Sorbo, wasn't it? I think I saw some of the 1st season but it was syndicated, wasn't it, so it probably was on on weekends where I lived and I worked most weekends. I did see some other series that Roddenberry created or inspired like Earth: Final Conflict in the 90s (maybe it was the late 80s) and Genesis II which I saw a few years back during one of those Sci-Fi Chennel marathons they run on weekdays. In any event, with JJ Abrams behind the scenes and with so much talent in front of the cameras, all they should need is a good script, and with interest coming from the Trek vets, I sincerely hope it meets all our expectations. It would be good to have Trek back! Cheers--

Well - I am really hoping that is going to be phenomenal - the franchise needs a real boost after the last film (Nemesis) which, with the exception of an awesome battle sequence at the end, fell flat. Did not not know that Simon Pegg was going to play Scotty - love that guy - Shaun of the Dead is one of my favorites - he should bring some life to the film - I can definately see him as Scotty. Besides what you have already mentioned I know that the guy who played Harold (from Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle fame) is going to play Sulu, and that Leonard Nimoy is going make a guest appearance a Spock remembering back to the "good old days". I am sort of bumbed that Shatner is not come to make a cameo though. Star Trek is what started me on my life long love of Sci-Fi - so I hope that this kicks off a whole new series of films, or even a new series - I would love it if the brought back DS9 is some form or other - after classic Trek that is my absolute fave. On another topic - did you ever see the show Andromeda based on a concept by Roddenberry - if so - what were your thoughts?

Just popping by to say "hi ya". Just curious, but do you have an opinion on the upcoming Star Trek movie? I understand Chris Pine (son of the guy who played the desk sgt. in CHiPs) is playing Kirk, and Simon Pegg is playing Scotty. If nothing else, I hope they do better than the last movies or series. Cheers--

Yo ho ho, LeoRex! That's good, re: the return of BSG--I'd actually heard more like Feb or March '09, but that was several weeks ago now, so I'm hoping you have more up-to-date info. Torchwood v. Who, I'll take Who. The first episode I ever saw was Brain of Morbius. It first came on my PBS station back on Colo (KRMA) on Sun around 10 or 10:30AM when I was around 12. I forget, but I think that was either the season of Romana 1 or Romana 2. I was hooked. I missed the whole Colin Baker thing though, until I bought a few titles when they came out on VHS back 12 or so years ago. I don't know if Colin was the cause of Who's downfall though--I put the blame squarely on the shoulders of John Nathan-Turner who played right into the hands of the head of the BBC who hated sci-fi, maybe anything except documentaries on the manufacture of Red Stilton cheese. The last season I saw as it aired was Peter Davison's (by the way, the young woman who played the Doctor's "daughter" this past season is Peter's daughter, Georgia Moffatt--her mother BTW is an American who played Trillian in the original BBC production of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy); that is, until Sci-Fi started airing the new series. Rose was a fantastic re-introduction with Chris Eccleston, and David Tennant is superb (trivia: David's father, Rev. Sandy McDonald, was Moderator of the Church of Scotland back in the '90s, aka, the head of the Presbyterian Church). Capt. Jack is an interesting character--John Barrowman is an interesting guy for that matter (born in Scotland, raised in Illinois, &c.). To be honest, my favourite part of Torchwood is actually Eve Myles (gorgeous and a brilliant actress). If Torchwood, which was left in pieces at the end of last season with the loss of 2 primary characters (2/5 of the cast) is merged with Dr. Who, I'd actually hope for Jack & Gwen to go off with the Doctor. I did read some scuttlebutt back around the end of the series for this year that next year could be Tennant's last as the Doctor, but I'd read the same about last season, too. We'll see ...

Hi geolarsen - from the scuttlebutt that I here - the last ten episodes of the season should be airing sometime in January 09 - I too have gotten a bit annoyed with the extended lags between the first and second half of seasons - but I just can't give up on the show - it is the first sci-fi show since Star Trek DS9 and Stargate SG1 that I could really devote myself too. I have every confidence that Ron Moore will keep up the caliber of the show for the last 10 episodes - here's me with my fingers crossed. Not a Torchwood fan - but I am definately a Doctor Who fan - both of the old series and the new series - if you ever want to get me started on a long rant - just ask me if I think that Colin Baker's incarnation of the Doctor destroyed the original series. Love the new series as well and how although the show is revised concept from the original - I do appreciate the homage that the do to the old series - the only thing that I wish that they had not done for the new series was to kill off the Time Lords -I just thought that they were totally cool Have seen a few episodes of Torchwood - just could not really get into it although I do like the Captain Jack character - hope they don't merge the two I think that it definately would dilute the Doctor's character - he needs a series all his own To answer your first question - that definately is Admiral Bill Adama - Eddie Olmos is a cool dude, but Adama is just so cooler
