Bugatti Accident - This must have sucked!!!

This is what I would worry about if I had a car like Rob's. Especially after the Lamborghini accident.

Usually you do have an insurance for things like that. However, I'm not sure about the coverage if you drive like double the speed limit and crash.

And even if you got your money from the insurance company, you will end up with no car for some time. In case of Veyron, maybe for a couple of years. :D

So, it sucks big time.

They should be able to fix that, sure....
Of course, it'll have to go back to France and will cost several hundred grand!

It looks like it took a pretty hard hit on the front, but there's little to no damage to the passenger compartment. Very impressive from a safety standpoint.

This Mercedes SLR didn't fare quite as well:

Somewhere out in the Qatar desert.

That SLR was driven by some 18 year old chap and it travelled 180+ mph as the accident happened. No wonder the car disintegrated.

Actually, the body structure of SLR is very rigid and safe.

Because of that Bugatti crashing (the guy was driving it 100mph+ in heavy rain) the company set up the 'feel the road' program to better instruct drivers on how to drive the car -- and know the cars' limits.

ps. moving to general area

100 mph in the rain? What an idiot.

grande351 05-13-2009 12:51 AM

Ooops! I just re-read my post. I know the story behind the SLR crash. I didn't mean to imply that the SLR isn't safe, but it sounded that way. Sorry!

Yeah, on a closed circuit, and after years and years of training...

daniellemybelle 05-13-2009 02:43 PM

What? those won't rub out? ;)

Rob, how was your German trip at the Ehra-Lessien Test Track?

Did you get any video? and did you get to experience a better "road feel" of your car?

FTVGirls_Rob 05-14-2009 06:08 AM

yes, I drove 407.5 km/h (253mph) on the track, I have lots of photos. Need to post them sometime.

If i wanna go that fast, i'll stick to Gran-Turismo on Playstation 2 lol. I can't even imagine being in a car going that fast. Rob your adrenalin levels must have been pretty high at 253 mph lol.:D
