Anyone see the 1937 Bugatti (one of 17) that is going to be auctioned in the U.K. Expected to go for 3,000,000 #'s. No. Not $$. #s!
All original. Found in a garage and not run sine 1960.
Wow!

Yes, Rob owns a Bugatti Veyron now (silver/grey) but I'm afraid he won't use it for a shoot since Bugatti doesn't like that kind of "promotion". Same as Mercedes Benz, sigh :(

Geezer 01-04-2009 03:57 AM

You're joking, right?

WHAT????? A person can't even take photos of their own car? Stupid! How can a car company prevent anyone for taking photos regardless of the "material?"

Of course you can take pictures of your own car. But buying a car doesn't automatically mean you're buying the rights to use it in commercial photography. And FTV is commercial photography.
No car company can prevent you from taking pictures of their cars and using them for your purposes but when they get aware of it (for example because of a huge spam email with Lia19/Mercedes SLR-pictures which was passed around) they can send you a c&d (cease and desist order) to stop you from publishing this material which happened to FTV as far as I know. I know that's stupid but its a fact.

Well, I have saved these Lia19/Mercedes SLR-pictures and as a little tease for Mercedes here's one of them:

It is...and there is NOTHING they can do about it. Personally, I've tried to talk Rob into letting me pose with the Bugatti. Not sure if he will let me though. And honestly, it's not because of legal reasons, but because of personal reasons that he doesn't want the girls to pose with the Bugatti. But I'm determined to pose with it. :D

Rob told me the same thing, it's his choice not to use it for photoshoots, not some dictate from Bugatti. If you pay over $1,000,000 for a car, you should be able to use it however you wish, in my opinion. I hope you can change his mind, that sure would be a hot photoshoot! ;). Has he let you drive it yet? :D

I also have the links to the YouTube videos, but I don't know if it's ok to post them or not.

CK1 01-05-2009 03:16 AM

but by the same token, if a model leans back, loose her balance and tries to catch herself by grabing a handle and breaks it off there goes $3,526.85 without tax and labor! :) but seriously, at least post pictures of the car. even without a model. it would just be cool to see. of course, with a nude model it would be better.

Max 01-05-2009 03:18 AM

I knew that Mercedes Benz sucked, primarily because they make bad cars, but this is antother reason that they suck, as well as Bugatti. Both of these brands are just a name, people don't really buy these cars because they are good cars, but because they have a prestigious name. Honda is a very unprestigious name, however, they make some of the best cars, and an excellent sports car that is very light.

What do they say....lmaorotf (laughing my butt off rolling on the floor?) Yeah right...me drive the Bugatti. I'm lucky if I even get to sit in the drivers seat. I don't think he would let anyone drive that car. Though I've gotten to drive the GTR, the SLR McLaren, and the Lambo that he crashed.

And yes you can post those if you want.

Great pics! Thanks for posting them. The action shots are especially good, like something you'd see in Car and Driver or Automobile magazines.

That sure is an awesome car. I didn't know that the wing could be raised while sitting still, I thought it only deployed at speed. At least that's what they said on Top Gear.

Hey, DANIELLE,
I have a project to buy the Bugatti Veyron. And of color blue metal.

Rob, my question: is it yours the Bugatti Veyron of the pics that have you posted? It's indeed spectacular!!!!

um, the car deserves it own site! its very photogenic. :D

It's not the fuel economy that really bothers me, but it's the transmission as well as the weight. It doesn't look like a really heavy car but it apparently is. When you suggested a huffy I have a Gary Fisher anyways.

The car has three different modes: Standard, Handling and Top Speed mode. Not only does the driving mode affect the position of the rear wing, but in addition the ride height of the car and front diffuser flap position. The wing also functions as an air brake but only at speeds above 200 km/h.

The wing can be manually deployed (Handling mode) or it is automatically deployed at speeds above 220 km/h, as the Standard mode is automatically changed to Handling mode. Also, the wing is deployed if certain parameters are met during Top Speed mode. (By default the wing is in down position during Top Speed mode driving. Braking and steering over certain limits will cuase the change to Handling mode, and thus deploy the rear wing).

Hope I didn't make you bored. ;)

I've got that last picture Rob posted as my desktop background now. :) Such a fantastic car Rob!

I adored this car the first time I saw it on Top Gear (UK TV show - great by the way). They have a race against a plane!

And for this technology you can thank Jim Hall, the legendery Chaparral Race car builder and driver. He lives in Midland, Texas and all of his cars, each one with an inovative component that was outlawed by various racing organizations because he created an "unfair advantage". The first inovation was an automatic transmission in a sports car that raced SCCA! Who ever heard of such a thing? Then came the variable wing. The downdraft car with snowmobile engines to literally suck it to the ground. His cars are on view in their own wing at the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum. (Indy outlawed his wing. As I recall, I do not believe the transmission was ever outlawed but everything else was. Keep in mind, his inovations began in the late 50's)

And I hope I did not bore you!

Enough of this! I'm going to view a Danielle video. There's plenty of inovation there.:)

FTVfanatic 01-05-2009 10:52 PM

Longhornbill, cars and girls are two topics that NEVER make me bored.

That was good info you provided. I didn't know about this guy Jimm Hall before!

Max how many sports cars have you owned or even driven on a test run? and are these comments based from experience or just hearsay?.

I am constantly reading several articles on cars. The McLaren F1 is a good sports car that is considered in the same league as this. That is a car that was an engineering breakthrough. It weighs half that of the Veyron, and can handle turns, unlike the Veyron. Going as fast as you can, and accelerating as fast as you can in a straight line is not the only thing that is important about cars in any type of car.

Reading about cars and driving cars are two completely different things. You are reading someone else's opinion about how a car operates without having any knowledge or experience in the field. Hands on experience could possibly change your mind about some cars. If nothing else it would give you some knowledge base from which to make your opinions have more meaning. You talk like you absolutely know exactly what you're talking about but you have nothing to back up your words.

ugo 01-09-2009 11:25 AM

WhyYou it's right.

To read it is a thing (it is it creates total confusion). To drive is another (learning and understanding the merits and defects of the car).

Yeah but you could say that about anything: What it feels like to be on the moon, How good this celebrity is in bed, What's it's like at the Playboy mansion, What it's like to play NFL football, etc. Does reviews to anything have any bearing on whether you pay for that movie/site/etc?

Not everyone has millions of dollars to experience all those things. Some of us barley have money each month to pay our bills, not go test drive (or even be allowed to) some multi million dollar car. Some of us have to educate ourselves by reading respectable magazine and taking their word for it.

So are those of use that don't have the means to experience things first hand not allowed to have a opinion or comment on things?

As for which is actually right on the car? Don't know and frankly don't care. I'm not a car guy, to me it's nothing more then to get from point A to point B. Speed limits 55, so it doesn't matter if it'll do 200. Now show me a million dollar home with some fancy **** in it and I'll be impressed.

Clearly to read is to learn of as is made so many things. And they are made opinions and debates. And not all say the same thing. And confusion is created. And I think that it is better to go nearby to see from, and to make to explain you from those that have already used. It needs to always be careful to those however that thinks that everything perfect.

Jeffrey...the issue is not whether he can have his own opinion...it's how he presents his opinions. He doesn't say...I don't like that car...or...I have read that that car doesn't do well on corners...or...I think that that car isn't worth the money. Instead he says...that car sucks, anybody that drives that car is an idiot...or...automatic transmissions are for losers...or...dual gerbox transmission are just like automatics and automatics suck...or...don't buy that car, I know it's not worth the money. He states his opinion from a first hand viewpoint rather than from an observers viewpoint.

mart 01-10-2009 07:33 AM

WhyYou's right, Max has been slagging off most sports cars and i'd just like to know. If he talks from experience or from what he's read about the said car. Maybe i should drop my curiousity about about his opinions. I don't want this to turn into an arguement and i'll take his opinions with a pinch of salt.

ugo 01-10-2009 07:48 AM

Max has criticized of what I have said to buy the Bugatti. But I respect his opinion. But it has to learn to respect the others. I have many colleagues of my job that humiliate me really with that attitude.

I can understand that to a point. But most people I know, whether talking politics or cars or sports, don't preference what they say with "I read" or "So and So said".

I mean, I've never been to the moon but if we are talking about it I'm not gonna preference my opinions with those statements.

I don't know Max at all and I don't know who's opinions are right. However if his opinions are so wrong, why not provide documentation stating otherwise. I mean, in all honesty, who should the people that can't drive that car believe, some people on a forum or people from a respectable car magazine? I'd be more inclined to believe a car magazine.

That of Max is one opinion of his. As yours.
It speaks of the car. Generally who is good to understand things of motors it is a lot of rights. But not able "to command" on others if one wants the Bugatti (Ferrari, BMW, Lamborghini, etc).
I believe to have said my opinion. And in tuning of WhyYou and Mart. But no polemic to Max.

Max 01-11-2009 05:26 AM

I want to say that I respect everyone's opinion, I just have bad social skills, and this is one of the reasons that I also fear women so much, and if ever do I communicate with them. I'm sorry if everyone took this wrong, but I would prefer a McLaren F1 primarily becuase it seemed to be a better car in my opinion for a wide variety of reasons.

Glad ya respect others opinions, but you should answer direct questions to you when they are asked, that way people don't have to go back to try and see what you are talking about.

Hi Max,
I understand that each of us has difficulty to talk to the women. We believe to always have from our part to speak, to reason, to command. And we don't often succeed in understanding of what the women want and they pretend from us men of whatever age.
But for me, the easiest thing is to listen to their service of the women. You becomes more good men, sweets and honest toward the woman to always be respected.
The man is strong. And not wants to understand the woman.
Max, can say what you want on what you think of the cars. Also I can mistake my opinions. But we have to learn to answer to those that say the others. As for the note what they also say the women.
Generally speaking.:)

Max these are the important words lacking in your previous posts. It would be nice to know if it's your opinion or general. When i'm talking about something or someone i make it clear if it's my opinion or from what i've read.:)

Max 01-11-2009 08:43 PM

I was just trying to understand why everyone thinks that this is the "end all car" and that there is no car out there better than this. Different cars have different purposes, and I like the McLaren F1 more, because it weighs half as much, and has a fully manual gear box as well as a sleek aerodynamic design. It weighs half as much, and this is why I am saying that it is a better car.
