A Shame... Lia lost the AVN award

So she wouldn't have a chance of winning something AVN related -- which is all about boy/girl. Same goes for FTV of course.

I've just been on the AVN site and i thought Catalina Cruz won it. Maybe i was looking at the wrong catagory lol. Well we all know Lia's a winner with us anyway. As long as she's having fun at the AVN. Then all is not lost.

Bree won best new internet starlet, not best internet starlet, that was Catalina (unless I'm not reading their list properly). Which is kind of odd, because last year she won best new starlet. I wonder what "best new" she will win next next year?

In her case it seems more like a publicity excercise.

In any case those awards are pretty bogus - I had a look at the sites that were nominated in that category, and there was one that didnt even exist (something that Lisa Sparxx was miffed about, since she didnt get a nomination even though her site is rated above quite a few of those who did). Overall there were quite a few there that featured tired old barbie dolls and one that had aggressive pop ups when you opened their front page. So, if Lia did or didn't win anything there doesnt matter. What is important is that she is having fun, that her site is doing well and that her fans love her.

Lia and FTV are number one on my list. The AVN awards seem to be a good ole boys club and it's who you know not merit that wins awards. Glad Lia is having fun being there though.

I loathe AVN, did so before Ms L's "loss" (Her loss? Their loss!). They, it seems, are more interested in how big the profit margin is, and tend to be a bit cliquey, favouring the older, larger studios over folks like Rob & FTV, Lia19, Danielle FTV and so on. Their loss is our gain, though--just like Indy cinema keeps the larger Hollywood studios on their toes, Rob and the folks like him, men and women, who push the boundaries to create something more than just the same-old-same-old pastiche make those studios that just grow fat & lazy on their long-past glory days have to work that much harder to keep going ...at least they would, were it not for AVN's club.

Given avn’s track record for bias toward b/g sites I think it’s quite an accomplishment to have been nominated. I had never heard of the other girl’s site before the award and I’m still not sure who she is. And don’t forget the interview with Playboy TV I don’t see anything about this other girl doing an interview with them. We know that you deserved the award and I suspect that AVN is having difficult reconciling your popularity without them recognizing you with an award!

I hate to admit it, but this outcome was predictable, from what I read in the nomination thread.

Lia should have won the award in my eyes, too, but they gave it away to someone more "mainstream", I guess. I don't know that girl, nor have I a desire to look at her website. I rather stick with Lia and Danielle.

Lia's site, as well as Danielle's and Rob's, has an uniqueness that can't be copied easily and might frighten others in the adult buisiness.

I hope Lia wasn't as crestfallen as she wrote here, and had at least some fun anyway.

Based on web traffic (as per Alexa) Kelly Madison's site generated the most activity of the last year and half, allthough it shows a steady decline over that period. Catalina Cruz is steady over that period and is about the same as Kelly's activity atm. Alison was up there with Catalina mostly, but her numbers have started to fall off over the last 6 months as well, probably because of her retirement. Lia's numbers are a bit lower than those girls, and also in steady decline. As far as I could tell, those were pretty much the only girls in contention when it comes to popularity of their sites. In a few months Catalina is probably going to hold the high ground in terms of numbers, and that is likely the reason she won.

I also had a look at the numbers of some of the other girls who have been on FTV who have websites of one form or another. Most of those barely register and you would have to think that they wouldn't be able to earn a living from those ventures. One that surprised me was Jana, I expected her site to be a bit more popular but it isn't really. Granted, it is fairly new and she has had two other single girl sites before, but I would have thought that someone with her energy would have generated more interest. Another surprise is Sandy Summers, her numbers are way up there, comparable to Alisons at the moment, and she has been reasonably consistent over the last year or so. It looks like things are going well for her.

Oh, and as far as Bree is concerned, I checked her website as well. It has been up for about a year, started out at around Catalina/Alison levels, and has been in consistent decline since. She is in the process of falling off the table, so I doubt she is going to be winning next years award either. In the new web starlet category (why isnt Sandy in this list?) the only others that had high traffic were Candy Monroe (hardcore crude stuff from the looks of her front page, poorly designed webspace too) and Selina18 (apparently very popular site, but she looks like a little girl, not a woman).

And, that brings another question to my mind... Rob, are you able to tell exactly which FTV members viewed/downloaded each individual update? Are you provided statistics on who uses your sites and how often they are accessed?

There is a web intelligence company called alexa.com, which gathers information using a toolbar (they claim to have millions out in cyberspace) installed on users computers. If you go to their site you can enter any address and get an idea of how much traffic that site gets. It isnt accurate in the sense that it doesnt capture traffic on computers without their toolbar (so there may be skewing between topics), but it does give you an order of magnitude estimate of how popular a site is.

I will have to disagree with your conclusion that this company’s results represent a site’s popularity. In order for a sample to represent the trend of its population the sample has to be randomly drawn. To say that there may be some skewing of the result is an understatement it is a given since this company’s data is bias (limited) to only users with this special toolbar. To extrapolate any trend this company has gathered onto the population as whole is statistically unsound. I will also speculate that all you are going to get from this site is some affiliates’ tracking cookie.

I think this is the main "problem". Most of the AVN public are people that are interested in adult movies for one thing: lust. Beauty, love, gentleness come much lower. FTV and it's daughters are more aimed at the beauty-apect, which generally have a smaller fanbase. And because of that you'll always end up with less votes... which is a shame really.

Ya, I realize that, which is why I said it is skewed, especially when it comes to topics. Within a topic however (in this case porn sites in general), you could expect people with the toolbar installed to visit a variety of sites in that genre and it would reflect what they are doing over time. It wont give you absolute numbers (like actual subscriptions or anything like that) but it will give you an order of magnitude of general interest and how that is evolving over time.

Yeah, but it was web starlett of the year not website of the year and being an FTVGirl solo site and a fleshlight contract star I would of thought that make my web popularity pretty big since both are such power house and some of those girls i have never even heard of

Heh...I'm a scientist so I allways try to analyse things too much . I think for the single girl sites they probably look at the site and the girl as one. IMO you and Alison were the hottest girls there by far, plus I think the graphic design elements of your sites are way better than the competition. But, you two don't have hard core content, which I guess is AVNs main focus, plus hardcore sites likely get more traffic than softcore sites in general. Alison wasn't going to win since she is gone. I don't know if they gave the rankings at the awards or not but I would have thought that you would have been way up there.

Anyway, you are still the winner to us!
