So he rang around and has got a lift from another friend. I think this is the first time i've ever let a friend down and it doesn't feel good. After your talk and seeing it realy IS a problem for you being near an airport, I'm sure your friend doesn't feel let down. I guess he wouldn't have asked you had he known earlier. I bet you can do lots of other favours for him.
